Continental is one of the world’s leading automotive industry suppliers. We make individual mobility safer, more comfortable, and more sustainable. Performance is our passion. Creating value is our driving force.
With sales exceeding €24 billion in 2008, the Continental Corporation is one of the top automotive suppliers worldwide. As a supplier of brake systems, systems and components for the powertrain and chassis, instrumentation, infotainment solutions, vehicle electronics, tires and technical elastomers, the corporation contributes towards enhanced driving safety and protection of the global climate. Continental is also a competent partner in networked automobile communication. The corporation currently employs approximately 133,000 at nearly 190 locations in 35 countries.
Continental has two groups – each with three divisions. Chassis & Safety, Interior and Powertrain are part of the Automotive Group. Passenger and Light Truck Tires (PLT), Commercial Vehicle Tires (CVT) and ContiTech are the divisions of the Rubber Group. Continental is a continuous driving force for future mobility concepts, and not just in the automotive industry.
The business units of Continental hold leading competitive positions. For example, we are number one worldwide for hydraulic brake systems, driver assistance systems, sensor technology, airbag control units, air suspension systems, telematics, vehicle instrumentation, and fuel supply systems. We are number two for electronic brake systems and brake boosters. In the tire sector, Continental ranks fourth worldwide and is the market leader in Europe in passenger and light truck tires and industrial tires. ContiTech is the world leader in the markets for foil for automotive interiors, conveyor belts, and rail vehicle air springs, as well as in other sectors.
Each division and each employee at Continental consider themselves to be not just suppliers of products and systems. Across the board, we at Continental take a holistic approach to the challenges our customers confront us with. We are a successful development partner. Our know-how goes directly to where it is needed: our customers
As a company or as an employer, our commitment to corporate social responsibility is practiced every day. Equal opportunities, work life balance, further training and professional education and early career possibilities are just a few of our core working values. For this reason we encourage self-directed work, project responsibility in innovative fields and collaboration in international teams
What we offer
From the beginning, we offer you a wide variety of projects that allow you to advance your ideas independently and on your own responsibility. Your Ideas will always find open doors and this term not only means an informal work atmosphere, it is also about open communication in every direction. Personal encounters flat hierarchies and team spirit play the central role in this context.
What we expect
Motivated employees are the key to Continental’s success. Aside from job or the field, your personal portfolio should in any case include certain essential skills. These should be:
The ability to be a team player
The ability to communicate
Flexibility
Creativity
Above average dedication and high level of commitment
Enthusiasm for change
These are the skills that nourish the consistent implementation of our corporate spirit.
Qualified Employees
At every corporate level, Continental needs people who understand just a bit more in their field than anyone else. We ourselves concentrate on training some of the professionals. But, that is not enough. In order to, as a company, continue to be one step ahead of the international competition, we are continuously seeking qualified specialists with a background both in technology and in administration.
Engineers
Qualified engineers are hard to come by. What is often missing are technical study programs with an international and interdisciplinary focus. In an age of globalization, this is an especially rough challenge for a high-tech global player such as Continental. The time had come to approach this problem in detail and effectively: with the Global Engineering Excellence Initiative (GEE). In cooperation with top international universities, this initiative allows us to concentrate on one comprehensive goal:
To make global competence a key qualification in engineering study programs.
What we expect from engineers with professional experience, of course, is in line with this requirement: We seek “dynamic engineers” with multicultural professional and personal competencies. An energetic personality ready to tackle the future with us.
Your Move to Our Company
Being employed at Continental means: Experience top performance, offer top performance, demand top performance. And do so in an environment characterized by its openness, flat hierarchic levels, international mobility and taking responsibility for one’s own actions.
Based on your qualifications, we offer several different entry options and further education programs. So, plenty of options to build upon your existing competencies and to shift your own career into high gear.
Have you just received your degree in a technical or administrative discipline? Maybe you even have one of our preferred bachelor or masters degrees? O.K., so let’s get right down to it. The selection procedure is made up of three steps:
A telephone interview
A personal meeting
The Assessment Center
We may be picky, but in the end, we are looking for the best.
Once you have made it through these steps, a wide range of entry positions awaits you at Continental:
Research and development
Strategic technology
Production / production scheduling
Design
Assembly and commissioning
Operations research
Logistics
Purchasing
Marketing
Sales
Controlling

It is never too early to start planning your future. Continental offers you the opportunity to get to know a world's leading technology corporation from the inside at an early stage while you are still involved in your studies. No matter whether in the form of an internship or while you are working on your final project: Take advantage of this opportunity to take a look behind the scenes and experience the practical side of our operation.
From the very beginning, you will be involved in our daily business. You will take on a wide variety of tasks in various different Group departments and will solve exciting challenges as a member of a project team. Because, studying is great. But putting your knowledge into action is even better.
The Global Engineering Internship Program (GEIP) offers a unique kind of internship. Outstanding students from selected international partner universities belonging to the Global Engineering Excellence (GEE) network have the opportunity to apply for an international internship at Continental.
With this project, Continental is putting the recommendations of the GEE study into action. With the GEIP, the internationally-oriented education of engineers is to be intensified. The GEIP comprises an international internship at Continental, a joint workshop with the students and representatives of universities and companies, as well as an academic program.
"With this program, we have taken the first step in implementing the theoretical insights we gained together with eight renowned universities in the practical operations of a global corporation. And we are convinced that this program is a highly attractive and impressive addition to Continental's existing training components," said Heinz-Gerhard Wente, member of the Executive Board.
GEIP is a cooperative venture between Continental AG and RWTH Aachen, Germany; Georgia Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA; Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China; Escola Politécnica São Paulo, Brazil; Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan; Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico; and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland.
